To be honest now, how many of you have skived a day off work or school to play the latest big video game release? I know that I have.

In fact, I’ll go one better. I once stood up an old girlfriend to buy and play WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64 instead. It’s ok, she was a nasty piece of **** and WWF No Mercy was a much more enticing proposition.

Of course, the best way to have a day off work to play a big video game release is to book the day off. Though to be fair sometimes we can have the attention span of a goldfish and those release dates just creep up and hit us like an RKO out of nowhere. In such a case, the developers of Baldur’s Gate III, Larian Studios have you covered.

“Hi, Larian’s legal team here. Launch day is nearly upon us. Have YOUR Baldur’s Gate III adventuring plans been thwarted by the forces of obligatory labor?” reads a tweet from the game’s official Twitter . “You may be eligible for Special Dispensation. Give this note to your boss — they’ll understand.”
